On the 13th of April 2019 BFS Fund Manager Pvt (Ltd) together with Sports on the Move Foundation pulled the 2nd Ananias Charity Fundraising para-athletics event which aims to assist the beneficiaries of the foundation towards their road to Tokyo 2020 and empowering their skills for life after Sport careers.
The athletics day was filled with fun activities. Definitely the most attraction was being in the shoes of the T11 (Blind Athletes) of running with a blindfold. Being a fun filled event but many participants walked away with the fundamental rule of “Sport first and Disability second” in mind. They have applause the Paralympic athletes as true heroes of the Nation who always goes out to make the country proud.
This year’s event has attracted many corporate companies with so much understanding of the cause towards this activity. The main sponsor of the event was Standard Bank, who also had an honour to award the Gold medallist Ananias Shikongo with a decent house after the Rio 2016 achievement.
BFS Fund Manager Pvt (Ltd) has also confirmed that the event will be an annual event so that together with the Sport on the Move Foundation will reach out to different athletes that need the support. They are assured that Sport on the Move Foundation will filter down to everyone connected with the movement, offering some of the less fortunate athletes the opportunity to reach their dreams and even create a platform for them to reach their full potential at International level.

WINDHOEK, 15 APR (NAMPA) The Sport on the Move Foundation in conjunction with Business Financial Solutions (BFS) Fund Manager on Saturday hosted a successful athletics fun day to raise funds for athletes with disabilities.
Ananias Shikongo, a Para-athlete and founder of Sport on the Move Foundation and BFS in 2018 hosted their maiden fundraising athletics event. The 2019 event was held at the DHPS athletics track on Saturday with a number of companies participating in the fun day.
Managing Director of BFS and a board member of Sport on the Move, Kauna Ndilula told Nampa they had a good turnout for their second event. Ndilula said the money raised will be used to cover the needs of athletes in preparation for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. It will cover basic food and taxi money to go to the stadium for training, fees for the guides as well as coaches fees, she said. She added that this year they managed to get a bigger participation from local companies which shows the event is growing.
Founding member of Sport on the Move, Frank Gschwender told this agency that the foundation has identified three athletes – Ananias Shikongo, Johannes Nambala and Lahja Ishitile – who will directly benefit from the funds raised by the foundation. As a foundation we want to improve access to athletes so that the foundation can give more to Namibians. We want to identify athletes at an early age and help them reach their full potential, he said.
Shikongo said it was always his dream to create a fund where he can plough back to the nation. Its not only Nambala, Lahja and myself who are benefiting from donations received by the foundation. The foundation received training gear from Europe recently that we donated to the Namibia Paralympic Committee, which has been my long-time dream to give back to my community, he said.
